Department of Revenue announces relief for hurricanes Helene, Milton

NOTE: This version corrects the dates in the third paragraph from September 23, 2022, and before February 15, 2023 to September 23, 2024, and before February 15, 2025.

DENVER - Governor Jared Polis  and the Colorado Department of Revenue announced on October 18 that taxpayers impacted by hurricanes Helene and Milton now have until May 1, 2025, to file various individual and business tax returns and make tax payments.

This decision mirrors the IRS decision to provide similar relief at the federal level.

Taxation Division experiencing service outage related to Crowdstrike update

LAKEWOOD, Friday July 19, 2024 -- Due to issues caused by the Crowdstrike update, also being called the Microsoft outage in media reports, the Colorado Department of Revenue, Taxation Division is experiencing a service outage.

Online services via Revenue Online, in-office and call center services may be unavailable.There currently is no timeline for when services will be restored. The Colorado Department of Revenue, Taxation Division will provide updates via its social media pages.

State reminds Coloradans of income tax filing deadline

LAKEWOOD, Tuesday, April 2, 2024 — As the income-tax-filing season nears its end, the Colorado Department of Revenue, Taxation Division reminds taxpayers that they need to file by April 15.

Taxpayers who miss the deadline will receive an automatic, six-month extension, to Oct. 15 to file a return. However, there is no extension to pay the tax due. This means taxpayers who need to remit funds to the state will need to pay 90% of their tax liability before April 15 to avoid penalties.  

New, free, online and self-paced: Sales Tax Fundamentals course now available to help Colorado business owners

LAKEWOOD, Tuesday March 26, 2024 - Business owners looking to level-up their sales tax knowledge have reason to rejoice.

In an effort to educate business owners, the Business Support division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) and the Colorado Department of Revenue (DOR) released a free, 16-part Sales Tax Fundamentals online educational course on Tuesday.

Revenue Online up and running after service interruption
